Named after Americas first president George Washington, Washington D.C. is the capital of the United States of America.  Washinton is home to an estimated population of 617,997. Monuments and historical structures such as the White House, the Washington Monument, the House of Representatives and many other landmarks hold a wealth of history of the United States of America.  Today many of the nations most important decisions are made here by the three braches of the federal government.
